This is a painting and depicts that great classic yacht Ranger seen being sailed very hard , at this point the mast will be experiencing almost its limit of weight and strain, the standing rigging of high tensile steel can be tapped and the resultant resonance will give an indication whether to haul tighter or slack off the wind thus avoiding a dismasting.
