Marines on parade in Newport about 1895

Naval Apprentices

A parade of Naval Apprentices at Newport R I. and demonstrates the Naval ,commercial, and leisure importance this area had.

The Club House, Newport Rhode Island, almost a shrine and certainly regarded as a hallowed place, you have to be several times a millionaire to even be a consideration for membership, and the place where our lads first went to on there arrival in 1930 to compete for the America's Cup.

My thanks to Harriet for the gift of these postcards which she made available after visiting my site. She read with great interest my tale of "Smoker" and his exploits.

It has come to pass that her family were also involved with the Enterprise in 1930, however that's another tale.
